If you're looking for a simple to learn but insanely complex voxel game then Rouge Island just might be the game for you. The islands are randomly generated each time you play, so no two playthroughs will be the same. The enemies are brutal and don't have stormtrooper aim. And best of all when you die, it's game over... unless you're playing nightmare mode, then you get one chance to make it right before it's the Great Beyond for you. Graphically it's so smooth to play and the islands are actually pleasing to the eye when you explore them... Give it a shot as you just can't loose at $10 for the game :-). VERY good game! The cube art style and randomly generated islands make sure that the game is always different. But the real fun comes from the VERY fast pace of the game. Rogue Islands combines a fresh new concept with an excellent combat system.I did find a challenge in my first play through finding food, however, the devs quickly balanced the spawn rates of the food and that is not a problem any longer!One of the unique challenges this game brings is finding a balance between the fast pace you must keep in order to survive, and exploring to find new items and upgrades. With some practice this becomes a very enjoyable aspect of the game!I am very excited to see where this game goes!. Rouge Islands is not what i expect, and a waste of 20 dollars! I thought that it was somthing totally different than what I did in the game. I'd really want a refund, especially for using 20 bucks! I went through all that trouble of trying to scan a steam card for being tricked into a bad, 20 dollar game!. Great game, easy to keep playing. The new dynamic difficulty has made the start a bit less intense. Definitely a shooter with crafting. The procedural levels and permadeath keep the game interesting.. This game is really a hidden gem here on Steam. The gameplay is simple enough, enter a proceduraly generated island, complete the objective, mine for gems to upgrade your spells, mine bitumen to craft fuel for your ship, move on to the next island. In that simplicity, there's some really fun gameplay to be had. As night falls you can choose to wait it out in your ship, or by finding and using certain items, play through. There's a light crafting system, as well as a food system, where different foods give different effects. Simple concepts on their own, but together give the game some real depth.It's also a really beautiful game, the graphics while simple, really pop with how colorful everything is. The voice work at the start of each level is also a really nice touch. The only issue I think should be mentioned, is some people, myself included, have had some issues with the game stuttering. From what I can see, the commonality seems to be Windows 7, (regardless of meeting the specs, which are pretty low). I am not saying this is the issue, this is only my best guess, (what in Windows 7 would cause this, I have no clue). I recently built a new rig and it's now running Windows 10; since then the game runs flawlessly. I'm not trying to scare anyone away, I just felt it should be mentioned, (as I spent hours trying to resolve it with no avail).To the developers credit, it sounds like they've got a lot of plans for future updates in the works, including a new game engine (which may solve the stuttering issue). They've said they're also going to be adding multiplayer and workshop support which will only make things better.Bottom line, this is a fantasic game, a true hidden gem and one I highly recommend. Great job Keystone, I really hope more people find this game, it deserves to be played.. A competent shooter, but a little light on the rogue elements currently.Rogue Islands is a magical FPS roguelike. Playing as gnome druid, you use jumps, levitation, and a variety of spells to navigate between dangerous islands and restore your world. Early in development, the skeleton of a competent FPS is present, but the loot and progression currently lack the variety and excitement traditionally associated with roguelikes. The game also includes light crafting, although it is currently little more than an experience point system. If development continues in the right direction and maintains the magical fantasy of the world, we could end up with a rare treat; a good rogue FPS. First Look v.91 More Turning and Late Game Balancing: We're finishing up our tuning of the late game. And also doing some optimizations. The game generally has a high framerate at this point. At least on mid-range PCs. But there are still a few cases where things start to slow down a bit. We're identifying the causes and knocking them out.
